Under the leadership of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Ilham Aliyev, the Azerbaijani Army achieved incredible success in its victory march, which began on September 27, 2020, in order to prevent successive provocations and new invasion plans of Armenia and to liberate our occupied lands.

As a result of military operations lasting 44 days, the brave Azerbaijani Army captured Jabrayil, Fuzuli, Zangilan, Gubadli cities, Minjivan, Aghband, Bartaz settlements of Zangilan district, Hadrut settlement and many villages of Khojavend district, Sugovushan village of Tartar district, several villages of Khojaly and Lachin districts. in total, more than 300 settlements, including Agdara, Important strategic heights in the direction of Murovdag and Zangilan were liberated from occupation.

On November 8, after 28 years of longing, the city of Shusha, which is of great importance and symbolic for the people of Azerbaijan, was liberated from occupation. The liberation of the city of Shusha, which is the crown of Karabakh, was one of the unique military operations that will go down in world military history.

Azerbaijan's military victories, especially the liberation of Shusha from enemy occupation, played a decisive role in the fate of the war. All this resulted in Armenia admitting its defeat and capitulating.

With the order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev dated December 3, 2020, in order to perpetuate this unparalleled victory, which has become a celebration of our people's power and national pride, and is of exceptional importance in terms of the prestige and future development of our state, November 8 every year is solemnly celebrated as Victory Day in the Republic of Azerbaijan. it has been decided to mark it.

With another Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev dated December 3, 2020, it was decided to establish the Patriotic War memorial complex and the Victory Museum in Baku in order to demonstrate the unparalleled heroism of the Azerbaijani people in the Patriotic War and the magnificent historical victory won, and to perpetuate the dear memory of our martyrs.
